Gasvaerk Theater

The former gas tank, which had been planned by architect Martin Nyrop in 1883, has been used as a theater since the 1970s. In order to update the impressive theater’s 40-year-old light, sound and stage equipment, a brand-new dome made of curved roof trusses was placed in the room on 16 columns, from which all the theater equipment is suspended.

The remodel also involved replacing the seating for 900 people. The team picked the stackable, Aline sled-base chair (design: Andreas Störiko), which doesn’t just look stylish but also has no negative impact on the acoustics. Photo: Louise Stickland – courtesy Kinesys
