Pitch perfect

26.05.2021

In just a few months, Paracelsus Hospital set up a sports medicine and injury prevention hub in Bremen’s wohninvest Weserstadion soccer stadium. The local media dubbed the facility, with its roughly 500 square metres of floorspace, Bremen’s coolest healthcare centre. In terms of sport medicine, Paracelsus is a partner of soccer team SV Werder Bremen and offers the latest diagnostics, treatments and therapy on site to soccer players and the general public alike. The offering ranges from fitness tests and performance diagnostics, to injury prevention and treatment, sports cardiology for therapeutic needs and performance enhancement, all the way to sports neurology and psychology, company health management programs, health coaching and dietary advice.

The purpose of combining various sports medicine disciplines in one place is to appeal to individuals, organisations and companies. Both patients and customers benefit from the wide range of services, cutting-edge technology, parking options and easy accessibility of the stadium. And in the waiting area, they can all enjoy a magnificent view. In collaboration with Bremen-based design and communications agency, GfG / Gruppe für Gestaltung, a very flexible space concept was implemented because the waiting area can be used for patients or talks, but also as a suite for Bundesliga matches.

The planners managed to combine screened-off spaces for equipment and treatments with the open-plan feel of the areas used for communication and interaction, which is key to the interdisciplinary concept. Natural light, transparency, clarity and the dynamic, streamlined look all harmonise perfectly with one another.

In addition to the special furniture for treatments, customised reception counters and various fittings, Wilkhahn’s Occo, Aline and 3D AT office chair models were chosen because they were perfect for a place like this.

In terms of preventing injury, we start with our own employees. This includes Wilkhahn’s comfortable furniture, which offers a perfect aesthetic and the functionality required for the setting. For example, the task chairs, whose flexibility prevent backache.

The result is a centre of excellence that’s unique and pioneering for its modern, holistic approach to diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation and injury prevention.
