For almost a decade now, the German Design Council has been picking exceptionally pioneering designs from hundreds of submissions once a year. Which is why we’re delighted that Wilkhahn’s again one of the winners in this year’s German Design Award 2022 Excellent Product Design category. As a result, another variant of the multi-award-winning AT free-to-move chair has won a sought-after accolade in the international design community.
AT Mesh impressed the prestigious panel of judges as a smart all-rounder in many respects. The mesh-covered backrest is the number one choice when transparency, good airflow and adaptability to different shapes of back are paramount. AT Mesh is a superbly comfortable option and goes perfectly with any interior design concept.
A success story made in Germany
The German Design Award is the eighth accolade for AT and its free-to-move concept. As a benchmark of healthy, three-dimensional dynamic sitting, AT has already scooped accolades such as the iF Product Design Award, the Iconic Awards, the Interior Design Best of Year, Architecture Newspaper, Architecture Masterprize, dezeen awards and, back in 2020, the German Design Award. Due to the seat shell suspension, the body retains its center of gravity whatever the posture. Thanks to the patented 3D movement, healthy sitting is child’s play. In other words, AT encourages more movement in the workplace in every sense.
AT Mesh fuses good design with ergonomic functionality. But it’s also impressively sustainable too because the mesh backrest comes in six colors and 80% of it consists of recycled PET bottles. As a result, the task chair was given the Blue Angel as an exceptionally eco-friendly product the moment it was launched. And there’s news about its ergonomic bonuses too.
