Wilkhahn is sending out invitations to an architecture symposium on its premises in Bad Münder to be held in German to mark the 30th anniversary of the only factory building worldwide to be designed and implemented by Pritzker prize winner Frei Otto. The symposium will be entitled Shaping the Future – Frei Otto’s Cultural Legacy and renowned speakers at the event will examine the way key aspects of his research, design, planning and construction processes will transform the future.

Architecture tours in Hanover
From 2.30 p.m. there will be guided tours through the Sprengel Museum’s extension (Meili & Peter Architekten, Zurich) and the Hafven co-working and maker space (Mensing Timofticiuc Architects, Berlin) in Hanover. The architects themselves will be on the spot to guide people through their buildings.

Wilkhahn’s premises in Bad Münder/Eimbeckhausen are unfortunately hard to reach by public transport. However, Hanover is easy to reach by train or plane. Which is why we’ll be organising a shuttle bus from the Crown Plaza Hotel on the morning of 25 June to get you from Hanover to Wilkhahn directly (see below).
Should you be arriving on the previous day already (24 June) you can pick one of the rooms we have block-booked at the Crown Plaza Hotel at special conditions (economy 99 EUR, standard 119 EUR, business 129 EUR, including breakfast in each case, or for + 22 Euro where two people are sharing a room). We’ll send you the relevant link with your registration confirmation.
8:30 a.m.: Departure from Hanover’s Crown Plaza Hotel, Hinüberstrasse 6 (approx. a seven-minute walk from the station – Hauptbahnhof).
2:30 p.m. Departure from Wilkhahn to the Sprengel Museum, Kurt-Schwitters-Platz, Hanover, which will be open exclusively to symposium attendees on the Monday. Architect Markus Peter will start the tour at 3.30 p.m.
4:30 p.m. Transfer from the Sprengel Museum to the Hafven co-working and maker space, Kopernikus-Strasse 14, Hanover. Approx. 4.45 p.m. tour by architect Anka Timofticiuc and presentation of the concept by the people running Hafven. Refreshments and wrap-up at Hafven.
6:30 p.m. Transfer to the station.
If you’re bringing your own car to the morning events at Wilkhahn and then going on to Hanover for the afternoon programme, we’d like to ask you to note this on the registration form so that we can plan better.

The number of attendees is limited. Those registering first will have priority.
The fees commanded by the speakers and registration fees (45 euros including food, drink and transfers to and from Hanover) will be donated to the Verein Multihalle e.V. to support its activities and events in aid of preserving the Multihalle Mannheim functions space. This multipurpose space designed by Frei Otto is considered an important building and the largest freestyle gridshell construction worldwide.
