Every year, Germany’s most renowned design organisation, the German Design Council from Frankfurt am Main, gives out the German Design Awards for the country’s best product and communication designs. All the accolades are presented during the imm cologne international furniture trade show in January and the designs displayed in an exhibition. Wilkhahn has been a permanent fixture of the event at Kölner Kunstverein for several years now and has gone home with an award virtually every time.

Our new AT free-to-move chair will receive a German Design Award Winner title in 2020. The free-to-move concept, powered by Trimension®, sets a benchmark for healthy, three-dimensional sitting worldwide. With its integrative, attractive design and range of models, AT is a smart all-rounder. The self-centring suspension of the seat shell ensures that the body retains its centre of gravity whatever posture is adopted. AT makes healthy sitting child’s play. All people need to do is take a seat, adjust the seating height and they’re done.

And Wilkhahn’s not just delighted about the compliments the prestigious panel of judges gave AT. The panel includes Arturo Dell’Acqua Bellavitis (president of the Milan Triennial) and Marten Claesson (Claesson Koivisto Rune) and applauded AT as being “a superbly well-designed office chair that fuses functionality with timeless elegance perfectly”. They went on to say that “thanks to its special synchro-adjustment mechanism, the office chair encourages healthy, three-dimensional sitting. The pleasant upholstery on the seat and backrest as well as adjustable armrests make it particularly comfortable.”

In 2020, there will also be a Public Choice Award and we’d be delighted if you were to give AT your vote, which you can do here.
