Going to Clerkenwell is a must for anyone interested in architecture and design. Since the 1990s, many of the traditional brick houses and factory buildings have been converted into workshops, architect and design studios. At the same time, the tradition of craftsmanship is wherever you look because graphic designers, watchmakers or goldsmiths have been working in Clerkenwell (once London’s industrial centre) since the 18th century. Nowadays, traditional workshops are located next to international brands and young design startups.

From 22 to 24 May 2018 they’ll all be joining forces to celebrate Clerkenwell Design Week, or CDW for short. Showrooms and studios will be opening their doors for the ninth time and inviting visitors to workshops and presentations or offering exciting installations.

Wilkhahn will also be there with its showroom partners Crucial Trading / Tretford and Maine Storage on Great Sutton Street. Visitors can take a look at design classics and new products in a historical brick building that was converted into a contemporary, light-flooded showroom in 2015. In addition to the multi-award-winning, full plastic Aula multipurpose chair and the mAx folding conference table, Wilkhahn will also be presenting the new AT office task chair for the first time in the UK. Its innovative design means that what Wilkhahn calls free-to-move 3D dynamic sitting can be combined with automatic weight adjustment for the first time.

Wilkhahn’s expecting lots of visitors to the CDW who can expect to be served typical grilled sausages from the German food truck.
