Publishing house Heinze presented the Architects’ Darling Award in various categories for the tenth time. In addition to a market research division covering all aspects of construction and with extensive databases, renowned media such as online platform Baunetz, Journal magazine or Baunetz Interior Design online magazine belong to the publishing house. Just under 200 manufacturers submitted entries in the 25 categories in which 1,900 architects chose the prizewinners.

The 12 themed awards were exceptionally exciting again and the winners were selected by a prestigious panel of judges from 21 architectural firms and interior design studios. Wilkhahn had already won the Cradle-to-Cradle Challenge Award in gold last year and, despite being up against stiff competition, repeated its success in the centenary year too. The judges based their decision on the new sustainability report, published in the summer, and the information on the website. The criteria used were the scope of the information provided, credibility, the focus on facts, transparency, ecological and social commitment, as well as the status quo and outlook for the future.

Due to corona, the announcement of the winners and ceremony itself took place as a digital event on 16 November 2020. During a livestream, spokesperson for the judges and speaker Mathias Fischer from AllesWirdGut Architektur ZT, emphasised that the number and quality of the submissions indicated the importance of sustainability and sound information, which is not merely green washing, to architects and planners in particular.

But Heinze was still determined to present the certificates (Wilkhahn won silver in the office products category) and the gold award on 23 November 2020 personally.

With a small number of people and members of the press present, representative of the publishing house Markus Retkowski handed over the remarkable statue to Jörg Hoffmann who is responsible for sustainability management at Wilkhahn.

The fact that architects, who have a special responsibility where the future is concerned, very much appreciate Wilkhahn’s hard work in this respect is an incentive for the company to continue to perform exceptionally well where sustainability is concerned.

Wilkhahn’s extraordinary commitment to sustainability issues impressed the judges from renowned architectural firms and interior design studios who gave it the gold award.

Last year, Wilkhahn impressed the judges with its outstanding commitment to sustainability too. You can read the 2019 blog article here (in german language).
