Wilkhahn at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2012:

[01-25-2012] An office chair that pays for itself, a multi-purpose chair in a surprising variety of guises and conference tables that are writing history.

The three-dimensional, office chair ON® is one of the focuses on the Wilkhahn stand. Many international experts currently consider it to be the world's best office chair. A scientific study now confirms that the extra range of motion pays for itself in both health and financial terms. The mix of technological innovation and top-rate design is also what sets multi-purpose chair Chassis apart. Presented in Stockholm with different coloured frames and textile covers, the chair is displayed in a number of different and exciting guises. And last but not least Wilkhahn demonstrates its expertise in furnishing conference spaces: traditional and prestigious table solutions with integrated multi-media equipment, to tables that can be folded or pivoted and are mobile. In terms of function they tick all the boxes and look outstanding too.

Bad Münder/Stockholm. "Seating in the workplace" and furnishing "Conference and communication areas" are Wilkhahn's two core competencies. Like virtually no other enterprise in the industry, the company has stood for design made in Germany for decades: it offers an exceptional combination of timeless, top-class design with ground-breaking innovation in excellent quality. The stand at the Stockholm Furniture Fair is an impressive example of the company's desire to create milestones in the industry all over the world.

Invitation to try out seating: office chair range ON
Over the past 24 months, no other office chair has caused quite such a sensation. In a short space of time ON has garnered major international prizes for innovation and design. Because due to the patented global innovation Trimension®, ON is the first chair to foster a natural, three dimensional range of motion in the body. At the same time secure and synchronous support is provided - in a remarkably ingenious way and at superb level of design. Healthcare researchers, ergonomists and physiotherapists the world over agree that the key to a feeling of well-being and to healthy bodies is to stimulate as varied a range of motion as possible. Scientists at the Centre for Health at the German Sport University Cologne have now for the first time proved that after an 11-week period the concentration skills of people using ON office chairs are also considerably better than on conventional office chairs. As a result, the investment in the new generation of dynamic seating already pays for itself very quickly. Traditionally health-conscious, Scandinavian visitors can come to the Wilkhahn stand and try out the chair at their leisure to see what the comparative field study proved: ON users feel much fitter.

A milestone that can change its look: multi-purpose chair  Chassis, designed by Stefan Diez
Chassis is Wilkhahn's design innovation that collected top international design prizes in 2011: ranging from red dot's "Best of the Best" to an accolade as the best seat at ICFF New York, the DESIGN PLUS Award and the MATERIALICA Award, to the German Design Award 2012 and the exhibition "Design of the Year 2012", Design Museum, London. Which is hardly surprising. In Chassis' case, for the first time in chair-design history, a lightweight frame of thin sheet steel has been made using a deep-drawing process from the automotive industry. The fascinatingly fluid shape of the frame and the unitary, membrane-like suspended seat shell form a homogeneous unit that is distinctive. The functional aspects of Chassis include its ease of handling, elastic seating comfort and ecological responsibility. Another strength of the design will be shown in Stockholm: with coloured frames and different textile shells, the chair can take on a number of different looks - from classically modern, to casual and relaxed, to cool and avant-garde. In this way Chassis can integrate with very different design concepts without losing its characteristic personality. Over 30 standard combinations offer ambitious interior designers a broad range of customised furnishing for meeting rooms, cafeterias and restaurants, showrooms and support areas, studios, hotel rooms, or private living and working spaces.

Different frame colours and textile shells allow a range of different interpretations: for example a classic style with a bottle green frame and a coarsely woven, robust textile cover, or avant-garde in flame red with a fine flannel cover. Chassis range, design: Stefan Diez, photo: Wilkhahn

Classic items and newcomers: conference tables that are writing history
Designer Andreas Störiko lives in Stockholm and has written furniture history. Back in 1994 the Confair mobile folding table became the role model for an entirely new generation of tables for multi-purpose conference rooms. It had an aesthetic appeal that was equally at home in executive offices in international companies. Timetable Shift is a perfect complement to Wilkhahn's range of mobile tables that can be folded or pivoted. In increments of five centimetres, sizes ranging from 150 to 210 centimetres in width and 75 to 105 centimetres in depth are available. The stand at the Stockholm Furniture Fair shows the perfect interaction, in terms of form and function, of classic items and newcomers. As a result, completely new dimensions for furnishing conference rooms are opened up.

Prestigious and made to last is a table model from the modular Travis table system (design: wiege) for the other end of the spectrum of conference room usage. These are solutions that are customised to suit the shape of the room, number of attendees and design concept at up to three metres span between the pedestals - including the integration of state-of-the-art multi-media equipment.
