Double success for Wilkhahn: The Aline furniture range received the red dot design award and the iF gold award in 2007. The internationally recognised awards acknowledge the combination of low material input, maximum transparency and high functionality demonstrated by the range.

Bad Münder. In the 'product design' category of the red dot award, Aline was able to compete successfully against numerous competitors. The jurors of the iF product design award were so enthusiastic about the Aline skid-base chair in particular that they gave it the Gold award. "This chair differs from the usual office chairs. It presents an impression of lightness, yet is completely stable", said the jury.

Convincing filigree design
As the heart of the consistently designed furniture range, the Aline skid-base chair has a cantilevered seat and back frame in high-strength plastic. The slender skid stand in gloss chrome-plated round steel provides a stable design, characterised by its small weight and low material dimensions. Another plus point: The seat frame is designed in accordance with the rail-skid principle and guarantees safe and space-saving stacking. The design, which is visually reduced to two materials, enables the chair to be successfully used in both private and professional spaces. Following the launch of the chair in 2004, its designer, Andreas Störiko, further developed the multi-purpose chair into a product range which, in addition to counter stools, swivel chairs and office chairs, also includes tables in low, sitting and standing height. All the products of the Aline range are captivating thanks to their transparent and filigree appearance, the high level of comfort and the ingenious functionality. "The product range can be seamlessly integrated into both informal and professional contexts, thereby setting standards for in-between areas", says Managing Director, Holger Jahnke, who is responsible for worldwide sales and marketing. Such areas include retail outlets and customer service spaces, waiting rooms, break rooms and bistros as well as libraries, Internet cafés, private dining areas and home offices.

Aline gains international acceptance
The red dot design award is one of the largest design competitions in the world. This year, 2,500 participants from 43 countries registered in its 'product design' category, with 623 products ultimately receiving the coveted red dot. In the office/business category of the iF product design award Aline won the iF gold award. The range thereby received the 'design Oscar' along with 50 other products from almost 2,300 international competitors.
