Wilkhahn Aline range wins "Focus Gold" prize for the best of the best at the International Design Award Baden-Württemberg

[11-16-2006]

The Wilkhahn multi-purpose chair, Aline, was chosen as the best product at the International Design Award Baden-Württemberg in the "Interior" category.

The Aline chair and table family (design: Andreas Störiko) was one of the focal points of the new products that Wilkhahn presented at Orgatec 2006. With graceful, transparent multi-purpose chairs, visitor chairs, swivel chairs, counter stools and tables in low, sitting and standing height, the range opens up a new dimension for furnishing areas spanning lounge and bistro spaces, libraries, internet cafés, customer service halls, retail outlets and also a private dining area or home office.

15 chairs free standing and 25 on a transport trolley can be stacked with great precision and extremely compactly.

The fact that the Aline multi-purpose chair won "Focus Gold" at the International Design Award Baden-Württemberg just three days before the Fair started proved to be a perfect fit. This year, the Design Center Stuttgart had chosen the theme of "Energy" for the competition. In the "Interior" category, the Wilkhahn chair beat entries from strong international competitors from the entire contract and home furniture segment. A quotation from the opinion of the highly distinguished jury explains why: "Very well designed structure in plastic and metal. Extremely light. Wide application scope. Highly innovative linking mechanism that none of the jurors had seen before was very unusual. The chair has all functions that a stackable and competitive chair requires. An efficient approach: to achieve a lot with low material input. Well solved."

Maximum transparency and minimum material input combine aesthetics and seated comfort on the highest level.

The excellent sales records that Aline has already achieved in its first year were more important for Wilkhahn than the renowned design award. Wilkhahn Managing Director Dr. Jochen Hahne is delighted about the new bestseller in the Wilkhahn portfolio: "Aline is an example of the fact that a really good and innovatively designed product can be a winner in the market if, in addition to good design, handling, comfort and price/performance ratio are also convincing. The truth of the matter is that Aline sells like hot cakes".

Graceful, optionally stackable high tables and stools for furnishing bistros are a perfect addition to the range.

The enthusiastic reaction to further members of the Aline family at Orgatec indicates that their unique appearance might also be crowned with commercial success. "Wonderful", "completely different", "we have been looking for something like this for a long time" are just a few of the examples of reactions to the new product family on the part of architects, interior designers and customers from all over the world.

Swivel and visitor chairs from the Aline range cut a figure that is as light and transparent as the skid-base chair.

Wherever working and living move more closely together, such as in break-out areas, customer service spaces, healthcare and wellness areas, showrooms, reading rooms and at home, Aline creates a loose and light atmosphere that extends an invitation to linger and feel at ease.
