Review: fairs in Dubai and Stockholm
[03-28-2008] In focus from Dubai to Stockholm: Conference.Excellence. made by Wilkhahn. Two important trade fairs for office and contract furniture, at which Wilkhahn focused on the topic of Conference.Excellence. took place almost in parallel at the beginning of February: on the one hand, with the introduction of the new Travis conference table range and, on the other hand, with the initial public presentation of the "Planning guide for conference and communication environments" which has been on sale through quality bookstores since mid-February.
 The Office Exhibition Dubai, 2008
The Office Exhibition in Dubai has developed into the key office furniture fair on the Arab peninsula in the past few years. This year was the first time that the fair did not take place during the hot summer months but in winter, a fact that meet with highly positive response. 7,004 trade visitors took the opportunity of obtaining an overview of the market and making contacts in the face of the large number of building and furnishing projects scheduled. Exhibitors included acclaimed international manufacturers, as well as regional agents and trading businesses. A supporting congress programme provided valuable additional information: entitled "Workplace Freedom Seminars", leading manufacturers and planning offices reported on future trends and concepts. Amongst other things, Wilkhahn presented the most important contents of its new planning guide. At the Wilkhahn stand, visitors could have a hands-on experience of the differentiated scope for promoting communication in the form of three scenarios:
- a Cura lounge extended an invitation to talk informally
- the Confair folding table with Aline chairs presented itself in the form of a meeting place that was both elegant and dynamic
- and the new Travis conference table system, with completely integrated technology interfaces, showed new possibilities for multimedia conferencing in classic executive areas.
 Stockholm Furniture Fair, 2008
The Stockholm Furniture Fair (06.-10.02.) has now overtaken the Scandinavian Furniture Fair in Copenhagen (May) as the most important North European furniture fair. The exhibition halls were booked out down to the very last square metre this year too. In addition to presentations by established companies, young designers from universities and colleges from the entire Scandinavian area showed their creations in the so-called "Greenhouse" this year once again. What is noteworthy is that in 2008 the number of international guests, also from Southern Europe and overseas, rose, as did the number of representatives of the press from all over the world.
With its exhibition stand concept, Wilkhahn focused on high-quality conference furniture. Various possibilities for promoting communication were described and visually presented at a luxuriously equipped Travis configuration, networked with an InterWall - a mobile projection wall. Besides many Scandinavian friends, customers and business partners, many building owners and architects, who had not been familiar with Wilkhahn beforehand, could experience the high level of competence and quality of Wilkhahn furnishing concepts and ranges. The excellent response to the Wilkhahn performance on the part of guests also marked the successful debut of Anders Scharling who has been responsible for the North European market since this February.
