Orgatec 2004: Neos range (Design: wiege)
[10-18-2004] Simplicity is better - Ingenious simplicity, natural attractiveness and transparent logic are the fundamental characteristics that the wiege design studio has used to design the Neos office chair. All ergonomic functions have therefore been integrated to produce a clear, homogeneous design: the perfect ratio of the synchro-mechanism of the seat, the extendable seat depth and backrest height or the 3D armrests combine form and function to create a calm, harmonious whole.
Inviting ergonomics When people sit, it is vital for them to change posture frequently in order to activate muscles, metabolism and circulation. "Dynamic sitting" is therefore the focal point of Neos' ergonomic function. A special synchro-mechanism with adjustable counter pressure, coordinated with natural sequences of movement, ensures that the seat platform and the backrest adjust automatically to changes in posture. Due to the interplay of synchro-mechanism, ergonomically shaped, air permeable seat and backrest cushions and design that integrates functions, Neos provides a high degree of comfort, which combines well-being with healthy ergonomics of movement.
Neos range (design: wiege): All ergonomic functions have been integrated to produce a natural, simple and attractive form.
Ingenious simplicity What is the point of an office chair with adjustment features that are incomprehensible and can only be operated after reading instructions for use? Neos is quite different: the levers for adjusting the seat height and locking the backrest, and the crank handle for adjusting the synchro-mechanism are conveniently located underneath the seat platform. Due to the two-section construction of the shell, it is simple for the user to make the backrest higher and extend the seat depth by pulling out the seat platform without any additional operating levers. Adjustment functions are therefore as simple and intuitive to use as the standard 3D armrests.
Neos range (design: wiege): Simplicity of form and intuitive operation are the special features of the new office chair.
Attractive and self-explanatory Why does a healthy office chair have to look like a sitting machine that acts more as a deterrent than an invitation? Although Neos has all necessary adjustment features, it is coherently designed: the backrest also integrates with the point of attachment of the synchro-mechanism, which makes the seat and the backrest look like a single section. Dynamic material cross-sections clearly project function and the static stability of the system. The fact that all plastic components are in black-grey underlines the coherence and concentration of the form. The consistent use of colour and material, and the clear forms of the frame, synchro-mechanism, seat and backrest are logical and inviting. Sit down, adjust the height, that's all. Neos is an attractive chair that promotes dynamic sitting and facilitates deskwork: in a natural, understated and intuitive manner.
Neos range (design: wiege): Characterized by integration, clear forms and detailed design.
Versions Depending on requirements, the five-star base is available in glass fibre-reinforced polyamide, through-dyed in black-grey, or in die-cast aluminium, polished or chromium-plated. Seat shell, back shell and synchro-mechanism cover in black-grey through-dyed polypropylene; 3-D armrests in black-grey, glass fibre-reinforced polyamide. All plain fabrics from the Wilkhahn collection are available as upholstery material.
Neos range (Design: wiege): The understated, clear design merges perfectly with any interior design.
Application Design that integrates all functions and the intelligent reduction of components to essentials allows an attractive price for using Neos as a basic range, for example in back offices. Similarities with the Modus and Solis office chair families permit coherent design concepts, ranging from back office, conference and training environments to a top executive's office.
Neos will be available from 3/2005.
