ConAction range. State-of-the-art conference furniture
[10-07-2002] InterWall and ConsulTable link the real and the digital world! At Orgatec 2002, Wilkhahn is presenting the ConAction range, as the first manufacturer in the world to show conference furniture in which computer technology is directly integrated, based on the Roomware® concept, developed by the Fraunhofer-IPSI. What is outstanding about the concept is that the special type of display integration and the touch-sensitive operation allow support of different discussion processes. This means that, at long last, it is now also possible in meetings and conferences to have direct access to digital data, to process them jointly and file them in the network again. This saves a considerable amount of time and avoids transmission errors. Briefly: with the new generation of furniture, the advantages of a face-to-face situation can be combined with the advantages of the digital world. The InterWall and ConsulTable models, which are now ready for serial production, can be operated with any commercially used software and hardware system.
InterWall®, Design: Wilkhahn, wiege, Fraunhofer-IPSI: The mobile InterWall has been designed as an interactive, electronic flipchart and wall presentation display - optionally touch-sensitive. Data are projected onto the 67" holographic glass display panel via a retractable rear projector. It is therefore possible to work on the panel directly without any shadows being cast. When the projection arm is folded up, the InterWall can even be moved through doorways and along narrow corridors, and allocated to individual groups - due to its luminous intensity, it can be used virtually independently of surrounding light.

ConsulTable®, Design: Wilkhahn on the basis of the 630 range (Design: wiege, Fritz Frenkler, Werner Baumhackl): The ConsulTable has been designed for consultation, with two to four participants, optionally standing or sitting. The horizontal integration of the 14" touch-sensitive display into the circular table tops promotes a confidential atmosphere and the active involvement of all participants. The touchscreen can be easily pivoted by 180° to allow the person facing to view the contents of the screen. Light sensors control the brightness and contrast of the display automatically, depending on surrounding light. Navigation is optionally by means of a finger, a pressure-sensitive pen or a wireless keyboard.

For example: project work The InterWall is intended for use as a presentation and work surface in training, teamwork and lecture environments. Such situations focus on interaction between speakers/instructors and participants: if digital information is marked, annotated and added to directly on the glass panel, the virtual world of the computer will be quite naturally linked to real actions. If the InterWall is connected to a network, documents from participants' individual areas of work can be visualized and processed spontaneously. If relevant standard software is available, all steps will be documented online, can be sent by e-mail and can be referred to later. The design of the InterWall blends perfectly with any existing ambience: as in this example, where it is teamed with Confair, the mobile Wilkhahn conference range, and the Conrack furniture system.

For example: consultation For example, a consultant can devote his attention to his customer rather than to technology. He simply rotates the display with relevant data for his customer to see, elaborates the advantages and can actively involve him in the consultation process. Additional digital information can be called up and integrated by any other people involved in the discussion spontaneously and at any time. New procedures, such as online banking, can also be demonstrated vividly and tried out jointly in a casual manner. Incidentally, the horizontal integration of the display guarantees visual discretion. The form of the table and coordinated surface finishes support a confidential and communicative atmosphere. The distinct, recessed stainless steel ring between the column and the foot plate gives the table both optical lightness and high stability.

In addition to the serial products, InterWall and ConsulTable, Wilkhahn can offer more sophisticated Roomware® solutions on request, such as the spacious InteracTable® high table for project work, the CommBoard electronic wall display and NoTable® interactive conference tables.
